The Buccaneers went through a long down period before bringing Bruce Arians in to coach. After a year with Arians coaching and Jameis Winston leading the offense, the Buccaneers opted to bring in Tom Brady via free agency, letting Winston go to New Orleans, where he may be the heir apparent to Drew Brees. Along with Brady came Rob Gronkowski and, later, Antonio Brown, to join a group of skill players that included Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Scotty Miller and Leonard Fournette. The Buccaneers did not win their division, but they did beat the team that did in the divisional round of the playoffs. Then they went to Green Bay and beat the Packers in the NFC Championship. After winning three road games, now they get to relax at home and await the Kansas City Chiefs.

It can be hard to score in each of the four quarters of a football game. What if Kansas City takes the opening kickoff, uses half the first quarter (or more) to launch a methodical drive down the field, and then the Buccaneers have to punt, only to have the Chiefs start another drive? That’s why the moneyline is skewed so far around to the “No” side.
Will Tampa Bay Convert a 4th Down? Yes -150 / No +105
Kansas City has a reputation for their aggressiveness on fourth down. In the Chiefs’ divisional round win over Cleveland, they became the first team since at least 1994 that had ever run a passing play on fourth down with the ball on their own side of the 50-yard line, with a lead, with 90 or fewer seconds remaining in the game. The Chiefs routinely go for it on fourth down; in the Super Bowl last year, they went for it twice in their win over San Francisco – and made it both times. Since Mahomes became the starting quarterback, Kansas City has converted fourth-down attempts five times in six games. However, Tampa Bay is much less aggressive on fourth down…but if you don’t think Arians will be more willing to roll the dice in a promising situation in a game that will make possessions valuable, then you don’t know Arians.

The money lines here make sense: defenses tend to get tired, and offenses tend to get more aggressive in the second half, as the end of the game gets closer and closer.
