In a semi-scientific study formulated by using geotagged Twitter data, America has picked its victor for the 2022 Kentucky Derby.

Over the last 30 days, analyzed more than 90,000 tweets containing keyword phrases such as “win the Kentucky Derby” or “best pick to win” or “Derby winner.”

The horse with the most of those types of keyword phrases in each individual state then “won” that particular state.

As you can see from the map above, seven horses were the primary picks, with the Top 3 favorites winning the most states.

The state of Kentucky, specifically, selected Zandon to take the crown at Churchill Downs.

State Breakdown

Epicenter - 15 states

Messier - 14 states

Zandon - 10 states

Mo Donegal - 5 states

Taiba - 3 states

White Abarrio - 2 states

Crown Pride - 1 state
