ESPN.com's premier sports handicapper Phil Steele has announced his top College Football quarterbacks for the 2018-2019 season, each of which should provide a tremendous boost for their respective teams. When it comes to sports bettors, this might be the perfect time to place that future wager on the Heisman Trophy winner.
Phil's pick for best College Football QB is Penn State's record-setting senior Trace McSorley. Indeed, he's a tremendous value to receive the Heisman Trophy at 20/1 odds.
Steele writes:
"The only quarterback in Penn State history with multiple 3,000-yard passing seasons, McSorley accounted for 39 touchdowns in 2017, including 11 rushing. The Nittany Lions retained dual-threat Tommy Stevens, who will be one of the country's top backups."
Will Grier (West Virginia), also at 20/1 odds of getting the Heisman Trophy, is Phil’s second pick.
He says Greer “was a perfect fit in his debut in head coach Dana Holgorsen's Mountaineers offense in 2017, throwing for 3,490 yards and 34 touchdowns before getting hurt late in the season.”
McKenzie Milton of UFC was his third pick at 33/1 odds.
"The AAC Offensive Player of the Year led the Knights to an unbeaten 2017, ranking second nationally in passer rating, throwing for 4,037 yards (67.1 percent, 37 TDS and nine interceptions), while rushing for 613 yards and eight scores. No UCF backup quarterback has thrown a pass at the college level."
Rounding out Phil's top 5 Best College Football Quarterbacks: Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham and the Missouri Tigers Drew Lock.
Both were listed at 33/1 odds to be rewarded the Heisman Trophy.
The oddsmakers favorite, Jonathan Taylor (Wisconsin), at just shy of 8/1 odds of receiving the Heisman, does not even make Phil Steele's top 10.
