Val Demings Payout Odds to Win Florida Senate $800 on $100 Bet: Ahead of Rubio?

Don't look now but suddenly the Florida Senate is in play in a very big way.  And the payout odds at BetOnline are pretty sick!!!!  Democrat Val Demings would currently pay out $800 for every $100 bet should she win.  These odds are almost certain to shift pretty dramatically, so you better lock them in NOW.

Here is the headline: "Demings Leads Rubio in Heated Senate Race"

Think that was pulled from some progressive operative website?

Think again.

It's from Fox News.

This seat, as illustrated by the BetOnline odds, was considered among the safest for Republicans.  But incumbant Senator Marco Rubio appears to be in some serious trouble.  He's currently the -2500 favorite to win in Florida at BetOnline.

One thing to keep in mind:  We're in the Miami/Broward media market and haven't seen a single Demings campaign ad (plenty of advertisements for Charlie Crist for governor).

Demings, a former Orlando police chief and current congresswoman, has 4% lead over Rubio in the Senate race, according to The University of North Florida poll.

Demings was well ahead in the Aug. 23 Democratic Senate primary with 80% support, which might explain the lack of ads to date.

Elizabeth Gregory, spokeswoman for the Rubio campaign, reacted to the poll in a statement to Fox News Digital.

"This is Florida, and we’ve always said it would be a tight race," Gregory said. "This is a choice between Marco’s proven record of results and Val Demings, who votes 100% of the time for Pelosi’s failed agenda. Given that choice, we are more than confident that we will win."

"The more Florida voters know about Chief Demings, the more they like her," Demings' spokesperson Christian Slater told Fox News Digital in a statement. "That’s why we are laser-focused on aggressively introducing her to every corner of the state and bringing our message to every community. And our grassroots fundraising makes it possible. While Marco Rubio desperately begs for donations on Fox News, Chief Demings is building a campaign fueled by supporters who are fired up and ready to defeat a career politician who doesn’t show up for work."

It's not just one poll showing Demings ahead however.

Another poll, conducted by a Democratic polling firm out of California, Change Research, finds both candidates drew 46% in a survey of likely Florida voters, with 7% saying they are unsure and 2% saying they would not vote.
