What Are The Odds to Win - Men's 200M - Athletics - Tokyo Olympics
Men's 200M Athletics odds have Noah Lyles as the -170 favorite. Andre De Grasse pays out $375 for every $100 bet. Both Erriyon Knighton and Kenny Bednarek pay $500 each for every $100 bet. Live odds can be found here.
Lyles represents the USA and is the current world champion in the 200 meters. He holds personal bests of 9.86 seconds for the 100 meters and 19.50 seconds for the 200 meters.
He guaranteed winning the gold upon his arrival in Tokyo.
“Oh, I’m going to win in Tokyo,” Lyles said. “I just know. There are some people who just know they’re going to win. And I’m one of those people.”
With Simone Biles having bowed out of the Olympics due to issues with mental health, the focus has now shifted to Lyles. He, too, has been public about his bouts with depression.
“It was a longer process than I thought,” Lyles said of his recent mental health battle. “It wasn’t just, O.K., I’m on medication, everything is going to be fine. Just dealing with mental aspect of, O.K., do I come off the medication while these killings are still happening? ‘Oh, look, they’re storming the Capitol. That’s crazy. Not shocking, but crazy. It’s all just things adding on top of that. Just because you do one thing, it doesn’t mean you change everything. Just because you got through the thick of it, doesn’t mean that you got through all of it.”
De Grasse will pay out $375 for every $100 wagered. De Grasse is the first Canadian sprinter to win three medals in a single Olympics.
"He handles the pressure really well, and I think it's because he knows that track is not who he is, it's what he does," De Grasse's girlfriend Nia Ali said. "He knows that, regardless of the outcome, there's people who are still going to love him, there's people who are still going to support him, and it's not the end-all, be-all. I think it's really important."
Americans Knighton and Bednarek are the wildcards here.
Knighton currently holds the world under-18 and world under-20 records in the 200 meters with a time of 19.84 seconds.
Bednarek ran the fourth fastest 200 meters of all time, under any conditions, in the semi-finals of the NJCAA National Championships in Hobbs, New Mexico.
