Despite 1 in every 5 2019 Masters wagers being on Tiger Woods, the books still have him paying out an incredible $90 for every $10 bet or $900 for every $100 should he go on to win this week's PGA Championship tournament.

Woods became the highest paying futures bet at most sportsbooks, both online and in Vegas.

FanDuel, in particular, got destroyed by Woods comeback win, costing that gambling firm more than $2 million.

First, the fantasy sports giant refunded all fantasy golf customer who entered the $1 Million Mega Eagle daily fantasy contest for The Masters. Then they suffered a loss of more than $1 million in winning prize payouts when Woods won. Tiger bets were just 10% at the start of the Masters but he was seeing around a quarter of the wagers as the tournament progressed.

“The Tiger effect is real,” said Mike Raffesnperger, CMO for FanDuel Group. “Tiger’s historic win today has cemented him as one of the most iconic figures in sports and we congratulate him on his tremendous achievement. We’re even happier for our customers who today have over three million reasons to believe there are more ways to win on FanDuel!”

In Nevada, a bettor at William Hill placed an $85,000 bet on Woods to win at 14-1 odds.  It was the individual's first bet at Hill.

“Pretty good first bet,” William Hill U.S. director of trading Nick Bogdanovich told ESPN.

“It’s great to see Tiger back,” Bogdanovich added in a release. “It’s a painful day for William Hill – our biggest loss ever – but a great day for golf.”

This week will be a marked change from past years when mid-May might otherwise seem like dead time for books.  Even the Pay Per Head businesses are scrambling to promote their golf betting options.
