Houston was expected to be a -11 favorite versus North Texas in this 2022 NCAA Men's College Basketball tournament matchup.

North Texas had a bit of a setback as Louisiana Tech held the Mean Green to just 36 points on 24.1 percent shooting en route to a 42-36 win.

Both teams set season lows for scoring during the game.  Thomas Bell had 10 points for the Mean Green (24-6). Abou Ousmane added 11 rebounds.

North Texas has had some really good success versus ranked opponents Against The Spread, though the results pool is low at 7.  They are 6-1 ATS.

After Sunday's loss to Memphis, it's hard to see Houston living up to its predictive metrics. The Cougars entered the day with a top-five ranking in the NET, KenPom, BPI and Sagarin, and remained in the top five of KenPom even after losing. But they have just one Quadrant 1 win, and it was a neutral-court win over Oklahoma State. The Cougars haven't beaten an NCAA tournament team all season - ESPN.

In non-conference games Houston is 58-10 Straight Up since 2017 for an 85.3% win percentage and 93-26 SU since 2013 for a 78.2% win percentage.

In NCAA Tournament games Houston is 7-3 Straight Up since 2017.

Since 2017:

As a favorite: 122-18-0 87.1%

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
