Marcus Smart 2021-22 Season: The Great Awakening

As noted above, Smart is the assist leader for the Celtics.  He is averaging 5.9 assists on the season.

On May 19, 2022, in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Smart recorded a playoff career-high 12 assists against the Miami Heat.

Smart initially struggled adjusting to his new role as a primary point guard. In his first 50 games this season, Smart averaged 11.7 points and 5.3 assists.

In the first round against the Nets, Smart averaged 7 assists in Boston’s four-game sweep. Against the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round, Smart averaged 5.7 assists.
