Will Washington State Offer Sports Betting Online?

Washington State is highly unlikely to offer sports betting online any time soon due to its complex relationship with Tribal casinos and aggressive stance against Web gambling over the past decade, though we should note that residents of the state can still access a number of online sportsbooks from other jurisdictions.

Two Reasons Why Sports Betting Won't Happen in Washington

Washington was the first and only state to make placing a bet online a crime, though this law is yet to be enforced having been on the books for nearly ten years.  Gaming industry proponents have been working to get rid of this law.

In regard to the relationship with the Tribes, Sixth Legislative District Senator Michael Baumgartner (R-Spokane) said: “The tribal gaming interests really have a lot of political influence in Olympia, so I think if it does happen in Washington State, which I think it eventually will … the tribal gaming interests will probably be a player at the table.”

BetOnline does accept customers from Washington State.
