  • Quin Snyder is also among the favorites but the Jazz head coach has expressed disappointment in how the Lakers handled the Frank Vogel termination.

  • "Today is not going to be a day of finger-pointing and unwinding all the specific reasons,'' vice president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka said following news that the organization had severed ties with Vogel on Monday.

Fizdale is the current assistant coach for the Lakers.

Snyder is the head coach of the Utah Jazz.  Snyder has come forward in recent days to suggest he's disenchanted with the way the Lakers handled Vogel's firing.

"I haven't been told s--t," Vogel said following the Lakers' 146-141 overtime win against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. "I'm going to enjoy tonight's game and celebrate what these young guys did in terms of scratching and clawing and getting back in this game and getting a W. We'll deal with tomorrow tomorrow."

"Today is not going to be a day of finger-pointing and unwinding all the specific reasons,'' vice president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka said following news that the organization had severed ties with Vogel. "We just felt organizationally, at the highest level, it was time for a new voice. ... That's not to say anything against the incredible accomplishments that Frank Vogel has had. He was a great coach here, and he's going to go on to be a great coach somewhere else.''

One candidate making headlines of late promises a payout of $2000 on a $100 bet.   That's Mark Jackson.

He became a broadcast commentator for ESPN and ABC following a successful NBA playing career.  Jackson is also a former head coach of the Golden State Warriors.  In 2013, Jackson took the team to their first playoffs appearance in six years with a 47-35 record.

The next season, Golden State improved to 51–31, the team's first season with 50 or more wins since 1993–94.  They reached the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1992, but lost in the first round to the Los Angeles Clippers in seven games. On May 6, 2014, Jackson was removed as head coach of the Warriors and replaced by Steve Kerr who ultimately took the Warriors to their first NBA title in 40 years.

Jackson has received the blessing of Lakers star Lebron James.

Sam Amick of the Atlantic reports that Lebron is would be enthused with that hiring.

Michigan coach Juwan Howard has also been added to the list of potential candidates but was yet to be assigned odds.
