2019-2020 Betting Outlook
Perhaps no single city in the USA has a bettor outlook in the world of sports than Los Angeles.
Nowhere is this more apparent than with the NBA, where the Clippers and Lakers are co-favorites to win the 2020 NBA Championship title.
All the pieces were coming together for the Lakers July 4th weekend with signings of DeMarcus Cousins, Danny Green, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Quinn Cook, JaVale McGee, all set to join Lebron James and Anthony Davis.
It was that other Los Angeles team, the LA Clippers, that won the Kawhi Leonard sweepstakes. Leonard helped guide the Toronto Raptors to their first ever NBA Championship. The team also gets Paul George.
Bill Plaschke of the LA Times writes in regard to the Clippers move:
This is the most important franchise moment since the league stripped the team from Donald Sterling and sold it to Steve Ballmer. These are the most compelling player acquisitions in like, forever.
As of July 4, the Lakers odds had action gotten a little longer from +170 to +220 for a payout potential of $22 on every $10 bet. The Clippers pay $18.
Meanwhile, the Rams still have the shortest odds of winning the 2020 Super Bowl at 20/1 odds. The Chargers had odds of 16/1.
The Dodgers are the favorites to win the World Series.
