Gov. John Bel Edwards allowed the state’s stay-at-home order to lift and an array of businesses to reopen starting May 15. In June, citing an increase in cases, Mr. Edwards said the state would remain in Phase 2 for several more weeks. As cases continued to climb, Mr. Edwards ordered bars to close again and required the use of masks in public, later saying that these restrictions would remain in place through late August.
