WICHITA, Kan. - (Gambling911.com) - With the midterm elections in the US just a few weeks away, Kansas has become one of the most intriguing battleground states.
Kansas has not elected a Democrat as a senator in 94 years, yet a new Times-Siena pollshowed Democrat Adam Hamilton tied with GOP Sen. Roger Marshall at 45% among likely voters, with the Libertarian candidate at 5%.
The oddsmakers at BetOnline still had Hamilton promising a payout of $180 for every $100 bet.
Hamilton is an American minister, author, and political candidate. He is the senior pastor of the Resurrection, a United Methodist Church, the largest United Methodist congregation in the United States, with multiple locations in the Greater Kansas City area. Marshall is a physician and former military officer serving as the junior United States senator from Kansas since 2021.
US President Donald Trump carried this state by 16 points in 2024. Recent polling shows that Hamilton has peeled off 16% of registered Republicans and 10% of self-identified Republicans. By contrast, Marshall took just 2-3% of each category of Democrats.
Other signs this race is getting closer: The GOP is starting to pour money into it, something unthinkable just a few months ago.
On Friday, the Senate Leadership Fund, Senate Republicans’ top super PAC, reserved over $8 million in ads starting this past weekend to prop up Marshall, according to tracking firm AdImpact.
The impact of spiking diesel and fertilizer prices driven by the war with Iran, coupled with President Donald Trump’s trade wars, have been acutely felt in the heartland, according to Politico.
“I think we’re on track to win, but I am comforted to know that the cavalry is coming,” said Danedri Herbert, chair of the Kansas Republican Party.
Democrats, meanwhile, are considering more spending to bolster Hamilton.
