  • This should be an Under series, especially Saturday's and Sunday's games.
  • Despite the Seattle Mariners career statistics vs. Framber Valdez being .294 with 19 RBIs in 190 at bats, a few of the players responsible are not having the best season.

The Mariners are 5-1 against the Astros, and some of those games were played in Houston.  They are 5-2 against Houston so far this year.  Both teams were playing well ahead of the All Star break.

The last four games of this series played in Seattle have stayed well Under.  Eight of the last ten in his series have resulted in eight or fewer runs scored.  The total has mostly moved between 7 and 7.5 however.

Astros vs. Mariners Power Rankings

MLB.com's final power rankings coming into second half of season.

Houston Astros (Ranked 10)

"You never really thought the Astros were out of it, did you? They sure are in the middle of everything now, reclaiming their spot as one of the scariest teams in the American League. Remember, this is a team going for its eighth ALCS in a row. They’re not going to go away. Someone’s going to have to beat them."

Seattle Mariners (Ranked 9)

"The Mariners didn’t pull away from the Astros and Rangers when they had the chance, ensuring this is going to be a fight until the end. It certainly helps that Julio Rodríguez looks like he’s working his way back to his MVP-caliber self."

How to Be a Baseball Bookie

Just think about it, on average there are 162 regular MLB game per season. If a gambler bets $100 on one team per season with a 10% vig, you can earn $1,620 from them. Multiply that by the number of friends you have that follow baseball and it can become quite high.

Astros Pitching

Framber Valdez (8-5, 3.66 ERA)

Seattle Mariners career statistics vs. Framber Valdez are .294 with 19 RBIs in 190 at bats.

Jorge Polanco has been especially solid against him with 8 hits but just one RBI.  He has stayed under .200 this season and probably won't present much of a threat. J.P. Crawford is sitting at .209 on the season and has four RBI's versus Valdez. He also has one of the four homers against him.

Valdez allowed one earned run on six hits while striking out 10 to earn the win against the Marlins and is looking for his third consecutive win coming into Friday's game.

Ronel Blanco (9-4, 2.56 ERA)

The Mariners are just .200 vs. Blanco in 35 at bats.  Blanco allowed two hits and two earned runs across six innings on Sunday against the Rangers. He struck out five and walked two in defeat.

Mariners Pitching

George Kirby (7-7, 3.29 ERA)

Kirby has only permitted 18 hits off of 95 at bats.  They only have 2 RBIs and zero home runs against Kirby.

Kirby struck out seven and was charged with two runs (one earned) over six innings in a loss to the Angels and does not have a win in his last three starts.

Bryan Woo (3-1, 2.45 ERA)

Woo gave up nine hits and four runs in a no-decision against the Angels on Friday while working 3 1/3 innings.

The Under in Saturday's and Sunday's games looks enticing
