The odds on Game One were not immediately available but it should be noted that the home team has won nine of the last ten in this series, Pittsburgh winning three of the last four. The Pirates, though, are 3-8 in the last eleven games of this series.
Washington is 13-4 in their last 17 home games while Pittsburgh is 7-1 in their last 8 road games. The Nationals have won six of their last ten games overall while Pittsburgh (46-43) was just starting to gain some momentum heading into the All Star Break, winning eight of their last ten games overall.
Knowing that the Pirates have had their fair share of difficulties versus the Nats and the home team has won nine of the last ten games, one should be aware that Gerrit Cole (expected to start on Saturday) has allowed 20 hits in 65 at bats against the current Washington roster including two home runs.
Cole is currently on the DL and should return Saturday while the Pirates starter had yet to be announced as of press time Thursday.
Cole has allowed six runs in just shy of 13 innings pitched his last three starts. The Pirates are 6-1 in his last seven starts prior to this time.
