There are a limited number of games this Thursday but some of the hotter cappers are backing the Detroit Tigers as they host the Toronto Blue Jays. The Tigers are a -108 favorite as both teams sit just below the .500 mark.
The Tigers have only won three in this series in the last ten. This will be the first meeting between these two clubs this season.
Toronto has won four of their last ten games while Detroit is riding a four game losing streak.
The concern here is that the Tigers career statistics vs. Kevin Gausman are just 17 hits in 77 at bats with two home runs (.221).
Gausman allowed three runs with six strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Rays on Saturday and he did not factor into the decision his prior start either.
But here is where things get intriguing for us. The Toronto Blue Jays career statistics vs. Jack Flaherty are just .132 (7 hits in 53 at bats).
Flaherty picked up his first victory of the 2024 season on Saturday night, limiting the Diamondbacks to two runs on five hits over six strong frames.
Flaherty yielded three runs in 6 2/3 inning of a loss before that and yielded two earned runs and struck out six batters in six innings his prior start.
Regardless, these are two questionable teams that are in poor form of late.
We say sit this one out and look forward to the new series of games that get underway on Friday.
