Consensus Handicapper Plays for May 25 - MLB
Key takeaways:
|
The G911 Sports Hub consensus cappers were on fire again on Friday. Let's take a look below.
Friday Recap
Our top handicappers were on the Guardians and the Under 9.5 Brewers/Reds Sox and both game through nicely on Friday. The Guardians enjoyed more of a convincing win while that Under game through by a half point.
Diego Garcia Now 6-1-2 Over His Last Nine PlaysGarcia is a regular fixture among the G911 SportsHub leaderboard and today he is on the Washington Nationals as are a few other top handicappers. |
Red Sox
Milwaukee is a few games above the .500 mark while Boston sits right at .500. Both teams have won half of their last ten games. Boston is the -146 home favorite here.
Jared Koenig will serve as the Brewers’ opener on Saturday against the Red Sox. Koenig draws the starting assignment for Milwaukee’s second consecutive contest with Colin Rea expected to follow him with a bulk relief appearance.
This news broke after many of the cappers had already made their picks.
Starting Pitchers:
C. Rea - MIL
(3-2, 4.07)
Jared Koenig MIL
2.61 ERA
N. Pivetta - BOS
(2-2, 3.04)
Nick Pivetta (3.04 ERA) has only given up more than two runs once this season while the bullpen is a shutdown group. The starting pitching change might not change much. It's done nothing to impact the line.
Pivetta limited the Cardinals to one run and one hit over six innings in Boston’s 11-3 win Sunday. He allowed two runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rays.
One word of caution: Pivetta's been hit hard by Brewers hitters, who have made 46 appearances against him. Christian Yelich has two homers versus Pivetta to go along with 7 RBIs. Gary Sanchez was the only other real impact player against him but he sits at a lukewarm .225 on the season thus far.
Boston is still a good play here even with the pitching alterations.
Nationals
The Nats have gone 4-1 in the last five games against the Mariners. Both teams are struggling of late.
L. Gilbert - SEA
(3-2, 3.20)
T. Williams - WSH
(4-0, 2.35)
Trevor Williams yielded three runs in 4 1/3 innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Phillies. Before that, he was charged with three runs (one earned) over five innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the White Sox.
Logan Gilbert allowed three runs in six innings and got a no-decision against the Yankees on Monday. He has not had a win in three starts.
Williams has not allowed more than three runs once. That includes a 3-0 record and a 1.65 ERA at home.
Dodgers
Cincinnati Reds career statistics vs. Walker Buehler are just 6 hits in 35 at bats and one RBI (.171).
Buehler recorded seven strikeouts over six shutout innings on Saturday against the Reds for his first win since May 24, 2022.
The Los Angeles Dodgers career statistics vs. Hunter Greene are even more impressive. They have hit just 6 in 50 at bats with 4 RBIs and two home runs.
One word of caution: Greene has been outstanding, conceding only seven runs in his last five outings spanning 31 innings.
