Consensus Handicapper Plays for May 31 - MLB
Key takeaways:
|
A few good consensus plays from the top sports handicappers at the G911 Sports Hub are available Friday May 31, 2024.
Red Sox -170
It's a high price but this was on our target list a few days back. It turns out a couple of the top G911 Sports Hub cappers are backing the Red Sox as they get set to host the Detroit Tigers.
Tanner Houck 4-5 (1.90 ERA)
Tanner Houck struck out seven and walked none in his latest excellent outing. Alas, he didn’t get the victory, as the Red Sox only scored their second run in the bottom of the eighth.
He now has nine quality starts in eleven tries.
The Tigers roster has had 19 at bats against Houck with just two hits (.105).
Reese Olson is 1-5 but with a 1.92 ERA for Detroit. His first win came with his last start. Olson allowed one run -- zero earned -- with four strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Boston is 9-1 in this series.
This is certainly a good spot for Houck and the Red Sox.
Cubs a Big Consensus Play But Some Concern HereThis one was already being played and nearly completed at the time of publication but we had the cappers liking the Cubs. Not so with Winners and Whiners: "The Reds are having a rough season but I see them taking advantage of a sputtering Cubs team and taking over this game. The Reds should constantly plate baserunners with Elly De La Cruz, Spencer Steer, and the rest of the lineup making contact and putting together great plate appearances. The Reds should limit the Cubs lineup, which averages only 4.29 runs per game, with Graham Ashcraft pitching multiple strong innings to hand the ball over to the bullpen with the lead. The Reds should win the game and provide great odds as road Underdogs. Take the Reds money line as road Underdogs." |
Over Nationals-Guardians Over 8
The total here was set at 8.
Patrick Corbin will come into this game with a 1-5 record with a 6.15 ERA for the Nats.
Corbin surrendered four runs — three earned - in six innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Mariners. He was obliterated for a season-high eight runs over six innings his prior start.
In 41 at bats, the Guardians have only had 7 hits and one homer against Corbin. We believe he will probably have a decent enough showing here.
Tanner Bibee allowed three runs in six innings and got the win in the Guardians’ 4-3 victory over the Angels on Saturday. He had a win his prior start. Bibee may be due for a bad start here but Cleveland does have one of the better bullpens.
Six of the last seven in this series have seen more than 8 runs scored.
Rockies @ Dodgers Under 8
Three of the last four in this series played in LA have stayed Under 8.

It could also have to do with limited picks.
