Daily Fantasy Pitchers for April 10 – Dan Haren, Jason Vargas, Tim Lincecum
Dan Haren of the Marlins, Jason Vargas of the Royals and Tim Lincecum of the Giants have all pitched especially well versus opposing hitters they will face in Friday’s games.
Dan Haren, priced at just $6.4K, was a -117 to -120 favorite at home Friday evening. He has also enjoyed success against Tampa Bay, going 7-4 with a 3.01 ERA in 13 career outings versus the Rays. This will be Haren’s first start with Miami after being acquired from the Dodgers. Haren finished the season with 145 strikeouts in 186 innings – his most since 2011.
The Rays are 1-4 in their last 5 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.
Miami owns the most victories (162) and the best winning percentage (.523) among National League teams in interleague play all-time.
Miami is probably a good bet for this evening at such a low price.
Jason Vargas – He’s coming in at $7K while the 3-0 Royals are listed at +117 in Anaheim. KC has won four straight in this series and five of the last six. The Angels are just 2-7 in their last nine games.
Vargas is 9-3, 2.86 in 20 appearances (19 starts) at Angel Stadium. The one disadvantage we see is Angels center fielder Mike Trout going 6-for-15 with a home run against the Royals starting pitcher.
KC is 4-1 in Vargas' last 5 starts when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game while the Angels are 4-11 in Hector Santiago’s last 15 starts vs. a team with a winning record.
Tim Lincecum – He is the highest priced of the three aforementioned starters at $7.6K. The total on this game was sitting at a firm 7 across the board with a likelihood of staying UNDER though we really love San Francisco winning at +107.
San Francisco owns this series so the +107 line does surprise us, even more so since Lincecum himself has owned the Padres. He’s 7-0 with a 2.01 ERA in his last eight games against San Diego, including two no-hitters. He has held San Diego to one run or fewer in eight of his 16 career starts at Petco Park.
Even with plenty of new faces in San Diego, Lincecum makes for a good option as a starting pitcher on one’s daily fantasy roster.
