Hot MLB Betting Trends for July 13, 2024: Did You Know Mets Have Best Record Since June 1?
-
Mets have the 2nd best record in the MLB since June 1 (24-12) but their bullpen ranks just 26th with a 4.76 ERA.
-
The current worst bullpens are White Sox (4.84), Padres (4.86), Blue Jays (5.26), and Rockies (7.02 OUCH!)
-
Phillies pitching is widely considered among the best in Major League Baseball at the moment.
Betting on the New York Mets
It's a little bit hard to wrap one's head around this one but, yes, the New York Mets do have the 2nd best record in Major League Baseball dating back to June 1. They are 24-12 over that span.
There's betting value to be had as well.
While the Mets were at -278 favorite hosting the dreadful Colorado Rockies at home on July 12 (they won) and a -196 home favorite against the Washington Nationals on July 10, 24 of their last 26 games have stayed Under the -140 mark.
What's more shocking is that the Mets bullpen only ranks 26th in Major League Baseball since June 1. Go figure!
Edwin Diaz had been out for nearly half of that stretch due to the injury break and then a suspension. Díaz struck out the only batter he faced to earn the save against the Nationals. Sean Reid-Foley, considered among the better middle relievers for the Mets, also ended up on the injury list.
Righty Reed Garrett will be out up to four weeks with nerve inflammation.

Here Are Your Worst Bullpens
The Toronto Blue Jays bullpen is .526 of late. They've lost eight of their last ten games.
Geraldo Perdomo brought home Corbin Carroll with a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 on Friday night. It was yet another blown lead by the Jays bullpen.
Arizona trailed 4-2 in the eighth before a two-out, two-run single by Alek Thomas that scored Perdomo and Eugenio Suarez. Both reached via a walk against reliever Trevor Richards and both advanced a base on a wild pitch.
The White Sox, as one would expect, have been pretty bad when it comes to relievers as well. They're 4.84.
The San Diego Padres are just a little worse at 4.86.
But if you want a really bad bullpen, look no further than the Colorado Rockies. They come with a 7.02 ERA.
From the Ridiculous to the Sublime
You'll be hard pressed to find a better pitching crew right now than that of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Redditor Phillies2002 writes:
"Definitely the perfect combination of A) Starters pitching deeper into games than any other team's (more decisions), B) Dominant bullpen (fewer blown saves), C) Good offense (more run support)".
Three Philadelphia Phillies pitchers made franchise history before the All-Star Break in fact.
The 2024 Phillies are the first team in franchise history to have three pitchers with at least 10 wins before the All-Star Game.
The Phillies scored 10 runs against the Dodgers Friday night, nine of those were against starter Bobby Miller. This gave Phillies starter Zack Wheeler his 10th win of the season.
