MLB Daily Rankings August 16
These are your hot teams at the moment heading into Friday.
- San Diego Padres
- Arizona Diamondbacks
- Minnesota Twins
- New York Yankees
- Houston Astros
- Baltimore Orioles
- Los Angeles Dodgers
- Cleveland Guardians
- Kansas City Royals
- Seattle Mariners
- Boston Red Sox
- Milwaukee Brewers
- Chicago Cubs
- San Francisco Giants
- Cincinnati Reds
Cubs @ Blue Jays
The Cubs were winning but that was also against the lowly White Sox. They haven't been so lucky coming into this series. But the Blue Jays are another bad team. They have won six of the last nine against Toronto but that extends into 2017. Last year they won two of three.
Chicago Cubs career statistics vs. Chris Bassitt, Toronto's starter on Saturday, are just .213.
This is not the most attractive series of the weekend.
Mariners @ Pirates
Seattle is 5-1 against Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Pirates career statistics vs. Logan Gilbert are just five hits in a relatively small sampling of 30 (.167). And with Paul Skenes starting for the Pirates, the Under should be looked at here Friday.
Royals @ Reds
Cincinnati has come alive in recent days and cracked our rankings for Friday with seven wins in ten. They've won six of the last seven games against KC.
It's a small sampling but the Royals have only two hits in 19 at bats versus Reds anticipated starter Nick Martinez. Martinez hurled seven scoreless innings and allowed just one hit, but he didn’t factor into the decision Saturday against the Brewers.
A play on Cincinnati is something to consider here.
Twins @ Rangers
Minnesota is 5-2 in the last seven and 7-3 in over the last ten of this series.
Minnesota Twins career statistics vs. Andrew Heaney are just .135 (one RBI in 52 at bats).
Texas Rangers career statistics vs. Pablo Lopez are .358. He starts on Sunday.
