Phillies and Ranger Suárez a Hot Play Today June 1?

The Philadelphia Phillies with Ranger Suárez starting definitely has some value today as the price is reduced for the Phillies at home playing a .500 team, the St. Louis Cardinals.  That's because Sonny Gray is starting for St. Louis.   The total here, and specifically the Under, should be carefully considered as well.  That number is 7.5.

Ranger Suárez (Phillies: 9-1, 1.75 ERA)

Ranger Suárez allowed five runs (four earned) on three hits in six innings in a loss to the Rockies on Sunday.  Suárez struck out nine but also walked four and threw just 42 percent of pitches in the strike zone. He did rack up an impressive 39 percent whiff rate.

Starting against the Cardinals at home on Saturday, this line would normally be set above -180, but Gray gets that price down.

Gray will come into this one with three straight victories, making Philadelphia an even more enticing play - at least on paper - as Suárez will look to redeem himself.

As noted above, the Under could prove attractive here as well being that Gray has not allowed a home run to be hit by Philly batters in 111 appearances and he's only permitted 6 RBIs.  This would be a more appealing play if Gray was coming off a loss or no-decision.  Look for the total to be 6 to 6.5.
