Rays-Red Sox Game Postponed, Suspended: What Happens to My Bet?

The Rays-Red Sox May 15 game does stand a shot of being delayed, postponed or suspended entirely should the forecast hold up entering this new week.  A 60% chance of showers were possible for Wednesday. A quarter of an inch was possible though the showers could be light enough for this game to be played.  Please continue to monitor.

The sticky situation, and one that differs across sportsbooks, is when a game is suspended and at what point this occurs.

Bets are typically voided should the game fail to make it to the 5th inning. 

It's important to understand rules vary based on the type of bets.  For example, money line wagers require a game to go a full five innings. Totals and prop bets require a full game to play out are usually voided.

Even if a game hits the over prior to a suspension, some books still will not honor the over bet.  It is important to check the rules beforehand.

With games deemed as "suspended" things get really confusing depending on where the bet was placed.

Bets may remain in play if the game takes place and is final within 24 to 36 hours of being suspended. DraftKings uses the 36-hour standard. Others require the game to be played later in the same day.

Rays @ Red Sox Series Preview

Tampa Bay has dominated this series of late, going 8-2.  But the Rays have also struggled this year.  They sit right at the .500 mark heading into Monday.  They have won six of their last eight games however.

Boston won just four of their last ten games overall.

The value should be there regardless of which MLB side you choose to bet on.

Tampa Bay Rays current roster has been held at bay vs. Boston's Kutter Crawford.  Monday's game might not be one where you'll want to back the Rays.  In 50 appearances he's allowed just 8 hits, 3 RBIs and zero home runs.

Crawford allowed two earned runs over six innings while striking out six in the Red Sox’ loss to the Braves on Tuesday.  Before that he delivered a strong performance in Wednesday night’s victory over the Giants, allowing two runs on four hits over his seven frames.

He's 2-1 with a 1.75 ERA. 

Four of the last eight in this series have resulted in six or fewer runs being scored, five have seen eight or fewer scored.

Half of the last five games overall have seen Tampa Bay score five or fewer runs while allowing four or fewer runs in six of their last seven games overall.

Boston has scored fewer than 2 runs in seven of their last eight.  OUCH!!!

Zach Eflin is a decent pitcher for Tampa Bay.  He's 2-4 with a 3.75 ERA. 

Eflin has permitted 17 hits on 56 at bats versus this current Red Sox roster.  That scares us a bit with the 6 RBIs and two homers, both of those came courtesy of Rafael Devers.

Eflin yielded one run over seven innings on Tuesday in a win over the White Sox.  Before that he gave up three runs to the Brewers in 5 2/3 innings.

The Under is certainly enticing here.  There is also an argument to be had that Boston could win on Monday.   Monitor the top capper consensus plays at the G911 Sports Hub for more.

Wednesday's Game

Though the sample size is relatively low, Boston starter Tanner Houke has allowed just 9 hits off of 35 at bats versus these Rays. There were three RBIs and zero home runs over this span.  He's 3-4 with a 2.24 ERA coming into Wednesday's game.

He just surrendered three runs in seven innings Friday against the Nationals for the loss after allowing four runs in six innings  vs. the Twins and should, in theory at least, put up a strong performance in this game.  

Taj Bradley is 0-1 with a 1.50 ERA for Tampa. In his last start back from injury against the Yankees, he gave up just one run over six innings and still lost.  He shut out the Yankees prior to going on the injury list.

With any showers this one really stands a shot at going Under.
