Tigers-Guardians Game Postponed, Suspended? What Happens to My Bet?

The Tigers will take on the Guardians in Cleveland as part of a three game series May 6-8.  Tuesday is the day to watch as there is a potential for severe weather at around the same time this game is slated to be played.  As of Tuesday afternoon there was still a chance that severe storms could move in towards the very end of this game.

Obviously, when a game is postponed prior to its start, all bets are voided.

The sticky situation, and one that differs across sportsbooks, is when a game is suspended and at what point this occurs.

Bets are typically voided should the game fail to make it to the 5th inning.

It's important to understand rules vary based on the type of bets.  For example, money line wagers require a game to go a full five innings. Totals and prop bets require a full game to play out are usually voided.

Even if a game hits the over prior to a suspension, some books still will not honor the over bet.  It is important to check the rules beforehand.

With games deemed as "suspended" things get really confusing depending on where the bet was placed.

Bets may remain in play if the game takes place and is final within 24 to 36 hours of being suspended. DraftKings uses the 36-hour standard. Others require the game to be played later in the same day.

Before placing your baseball bets on Tuesday's Tigers vs. Guardians game, make sure you monitor the weather forecast first. Things can certainly change as game time approaches.

Detroit Dominance

The Tigers have beaten Cleveland in six of their last eight coming into this series.

Kenta Maeda is scheduled to start Tuesday's game for Detroit.  He owns a 1-1 record with a 5.02 ERA.  Don't be too fooled by that inflated number as this was primarily a result of his opening day start where he surrendered six runs on seven hits in just 3 1/3 innings.  He had another bad start on April 18.

Maeda limited the Cardinals to one run in six innings and struck out five in the Tigers’ 4-1 victory his last start and threw five shutout innings in a no-decision against the Rays with three hits allowed and five strikeouts before that.

Cleveland's expected starter in this game, Logan Allen, was charged with three runs (two earned) over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the Astros. He surrendered four runs in 4 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Braves.

It is hard to see Allen having three consecutive bad starts.  His experience versus this Tigers lineup is limited.
