These are some good starting pitchers vs. team roster batting analyses for Wednesday May 15.
Cubs @ Braves
Atlanta Braves career statistics vs. Javier Assad have 7 hits in 22 at bats with two home runs and four RBIs (.318).
Assad was lifted after allowing two runs — one earned — in 4 1/3 innings Friday against the Pirates. He scattered just four hits over six innings of shutout baseball before that.
Charlie Morton allowed 16 hits in 65 at bats with zero home runs. That might prove to be an issue for the Cubs.
Charlie Morton had seven strikeouts across seven innings in the Braves 4-to-2 win over the Mets. He allowed three hits, one walk, and one run while earning the victory. He gave up two runs in his prior start but did not factor into the decision.
Of the three games in this series, the Braves look like they have a bit more of an edge on Wednesday.
Blue Jays @ Ravens
If we can get Wednesday's game off, Cole Irvin is .188 versus the current Blue Jays roster in a sizable sampling of 69 at bats.
Rain will be an issue here as this game is slated to get underway at 12:45 pm and showers are expected until around 4 pm. The steady stuff might be out by game time however.
Irvin (4-1, 2.90 ERA) allowed two runs Friday in the Orioles’ 4-2 victory over the Diamondbacks.
Yusei Kikuchi starts for Toronto. He's 2-3 with a respectable 2.64 ERA.
He's coming off a tough loss Friday after limiting the Twins to two runs over eight innings. Kikuch had a no-decision prior to that. In fact, Kikuch hasn't had a win in three so the Under might be something to consider for this Wednesday game. Six of the last ten have seen no more than 7 runs scored in this series.
