Yankees @ Twins
Minnesota is hoping to avoid a third straight loss to the Yankees on Thursday. New York Yankees career statistics vs. Joe Ryan are just 10 for 44 with two home runs and two RBIs (.227). The sampling is relatively small but overall he's been pretty good facing New York.
Ryan pitched seven innings of one-run ball Friday in the Twins’ 3-2 defeat of the Blue Jays. Prior to that, he pitched six innings and allowed three runs Sunday in a loss to the Red Sox.
Clarke Schmidt is 4-1 with a 2.95 ERA for the Yankees.
Schmidt outdueled Taj Bradley in Friday evening’s victory over the Rays, scattering five hits over 6 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball. He's won his last two starts.
We'd definitely be a little bit cautious backing the Yankees here despite their two stellar performances over the past two nights.
Mets @ Phillies
Taijuan Walker starting for the Phillies has allowed only three home runs in 95 at bats from this Mets roster. There have been 12 RBIs over this time (.200). All three of his starts thus far have been wins.
Philadelphia has won eight of the last ten in this series and four straight but we'd much prefer getting Walker off a loss or no decision.
Pirates @ Cubs
Connor Joe has gone 6-for-10 against Cubs starter Justin Steele. This includes one homer and 3 RBIs.
Reds @ Dodgers
We didn't know who Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow was facing as this was going to press. He's 6-1 with a 2.53 ERA.
Glasnow struck out 10 while allowing just one run in seven innings against the Padres on Friday, but he didn’t factor into the decision in his last start and had a win prior to that.
The Reds are 4-2 in the last six meetings vs. LA.
