Twins Carlos Correa 8-for-12 vs. Reds Nick Martinez
This is a tough time to be betting Major League Baseball as the season begins to wind down and playoff bound teams are looking to rest their top pitchers while clubs pretty much out of the post season picture look to play spoiler.
The Minnesota Twins are 5.5 games down from the Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central. One can argue they're just unraveling as opposed to strategically resting players.
Minnesota is still very much in the playoffs hunt.
Cincinnati, on the other hand, is 14 games down in the NL Central. While not technically out of post season contention, the Reds don't stand much of a chance.
Cincinnati is currently playing better than Minnesota, a team that has just three wins over their last ten.
The problem with the Reds is their starting pitcher, Nick Martinez. He tossed seven scoreless innings and got the win in the Reds’ 1-0 victory over the Braves on Monday. He's had two straight wins following four starts without one.
One of the Twins best players, Carlos Correa, is 8-for-12 with four RBIs and three home runs against Martinez.
He's being activated off the 10-day injury list, so perhaps he'll be a bit rusty this day. Somehow we doubt that.
Simeon Woods-Richardson starts for Minnesota. Richardson has been solid this season with a 3.96 ERA.
Yes, Minnesota is our play of the day as we sit out this college football week.
Hot Capper on Twins Too
Mario DeLuca of the G911 Sports Hub is backing Minnesota this day. He's 18-7 over the last 14 days with his picks.
