World Series betting was generating Wednesday’s 2nd most wagered on event, The Texas Rangers winning with a -150 money line at Sportsbook.com.  Some 90 percent of those betting on the Rangers-Giants World Series game were backing Texas coming into Wednesday night’s first faceoff.  The line on this game initially opened at even.

The price for the Rangers was a bit steep, however.  Gamblers would have to bet $15 just to win $10 (the $15 wager refunded should Texas win).  San Francisco would pay out $13 for every $10 bet as the underdog.

The only event getting more betting action as of Tuesday was Boise State’s game against Louisiana Tech (thanks mostly to the Broncos number 2 ranking by the AP).  Another heavily bet on event Tuesday was the NBA opening season game between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics.  The World Series Game 1 was likely to generate the most wagering activity come Wednesday.

As for the 2010 World Series,

Tim Lincecum will start Wednesday night's World Series opener for San Francisco against the Texas Rangers. Fellow right-hander Matt Cain will follow in Game 2 on Thursday, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Monday.

2008 American League Cy Young Award winner Cliff Lee (3-0, 0.75 ERA) will start Wednesday for Texas.

There are plenty of stats to consider before betting on this game, so let’s review now.

The Rangers are 4-0 in their last 4 road games vs. a right-handed starter and are 8-0 in their last 8 interleague road games vs. a right-handed starter.

The Rangers are 10-1 in their last 11 interleague road games.  They are 13-3 in their last 16 interleague games.

Texas is 8-1 in their last 9 road games.

The Rangers are 7-1 in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a winning record.

The Rangers are 5-1 in Lees last 6 starts after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.

The Giants are 7-0 in their last 7 games following an off day.  They are 7-2 in their last 9 games as an underdog but are just 1-5 in their last 6 interleague games as an underdog.

San Francisco is 9-3 in their last 12 interleague home games.

The Giants are 13-5 in their last 18 games with the total set at 6.5 or lower.

The Giants are 9-2 in Lincecums last 11 starts as an underdog of +110 to +150.
