Earlier in the day we witnessed the heavily backed Notre Dame Fighting Irish fall to Old Dominion while Vanderbilt lost to Murray State.  This was just the beginning of a series of 2010 NCAA Basketball Tournament upsets with betting trends going right out the window.  We dare say that plenty of brackets were bust as well early on.

Number 14-seeded Ohio dismantled number 4-seeded Georgetown while number 6-seeded Marquette fell to number 11-seeded Washington.

"Notre Dame and Marquette were two of the most bet on teams in the tournament," said Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.

Another team heavily backed by gamblers, Northern Iowa, managed to win by a single point.  They were a one-point underdog and number 9 seed to UNLV.  80 percent of the public backing was on Northern Iowa in this game.

UTEP was getting good action among the "sharps" but ended up bludgeoned by Butler.
