6-8 Davante Gardner’s ability to make significant contributions was unclear going into Thursday’s NCAA tournament opener following an injury to 6-foot-11 starter Chris Otule.  As a result, this was one of the last games to have a line posted.

“Everybody just says we’re little, and we’re going to get pulverized inside,” head coach Buzz Williams said. “And then if you study those numbers, actually we’ve been more potent in the paint than any other team we’ve played, except Louisville in our last game. I think our guys have done a really good job.”

Marquette versus good offensive teams - scoring 77+ points/game after 15+ games is a very impressive 11-2 Against The Spread over the past three seasons.

Marquette has lost only one of its last seven games while Brigham Young has lost two of its last seven.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
