There is growing speculation that Lebron James will end up playing for the New York Knicks next season following his team's early departure from the NBA Playoffs.  The Knicks come in with odds of 2/1 (+200) to snatch James up for next season at Sportsbook.com.

As of July 1, 2010, Lebron will be an unrestricted free agent.  James was a -150 favorite to remain in Cleveland while Chicago came in with slightly better odds than New York at +150 for a payout potential of $15 on every $10 bet.

Needless-to-say, the New York media is groveling over Lebron James following Thursday night's loss to the Celtics.

Responding to The Post's query about the Knicks as a threat to sign James and Mayor Bloomberg's statements, Cavs owner Dan Gilbert said, "I would think Mayor Bloomberg would have better things to do than that, and have more challenges. Besides that, I think that we have to ignore the noise, and that's what we do.

"People in New York read that stuff more than people in Cleveland do. We are focused on building the best franchise, the best environment, the best place for the long-term situation for LeBron or any free agents who want to come here."
