Marquette vs. Syracuse Spread

The Marquette vs. Syracuse spread was coming in at -5 in favor of the Orange Saturday night.  The line is likely to move no more than a half point since spread action is relatively balanced.  The 140.5 total was getting near 80 percent of the betting action on the UNDER at Bookmaker.com.  Gambling911.com has determined that the line on this game is accurate.

Syracuse easily beat Indiana State Friday night with a 77-60 victory.

In the first-ever meeting between the two schools, Rick Jackson scored 23 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead Syracuse.

Syracuse improved to 11-1 when seeded No. 3 or higher in its first game of the NCAA tournament under Jim Boeheim. Its lone loss was in 1991 to Richmond.

The Orange improved to 7-1 over their past eight games. They advance to play Marquette and will attempt to reach the Sweet 16 for the third straight year.

"Once you get that first win, you're in your comfort zone and you start to play your basketball," Jackson said. "This is unfinished business. Once we get past this game, we're going to keep on trucking."

Marquette, meanwhile, finished off Xavier, which had made it past the First Round of the NCAA Tournament in each of the last four years.

Darius Johnson-Odom had 19 points and Jimmy Butler added 15 as Marquette shot 53.3 percent (24 of 45) en route to the win.

The Golden Eagles held Xavier's Tu Holloway, who had averaged 20.2 points, to five points on 1-of-9 shooting.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
