After suffering their first loss of the year on MLK day, the Baylor Bears look to rebound as they host another highly ranked team in the Missouri Tigers. Combined, these two teams are 34-2 SU on the season and both have winning ATS numbers too.  Missouri is a bit better at 9-4 ATS and will likely be getting a few points in this one.

In the only meeting between these two last year, Missouri used their home court advantage to run away with the game early on, en route to a 77-59 win. They took advantage of a sloppy performance by Baylor (21 turnovers) and were able to get double digit points from four of their starters. Three of those four (Ratliffe, Denmon and English) are starting again for the Tigers this year, producing strong stat lines on a nightly basis. They have won three straight after suffering their only loss @ Kansas State and are 8-3 ATS when coming off a straight up win. Missouri is also 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings, despite being 1-5 ATS in their last six trips to Baylor. They showed last year that they can dominate this Baylor squad and would love to do it again this year.

Baylor backers do benefit from the revenge angle after last year’s blowout loss but after getting blown out against the Kansas Jayhawks on Monday, you have to question the mental toughness of this team. The chance at a perfect season (as slim as it may have been) is gone now and for talented basketball teams like Baylor it often takes a game or two to rebound mentally from such a loss. They are undefeated at home this season but they have yet to host an offensive powerhouse (82 ppg) like Missouri. Baylor is also 1-5 ATS when coming off a loss against the spread and they are 2-6 ATS in their last eight conference games. The Bears are also 1-5 ATS at home against a winning road team and are 5-11 against the number at home.

Losing to Kansas really took a lot of wind out of the Baylor’s sails and that “hangover” will continue as a tough Missouri team comes to town looking for a win.

Take Missouri ATS in this one.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
