In today’s profile matchup we look at the Golden State Warriors as a surprising -7.5 favorite in Miami. Say what?
Oh how times they are a changin’
Okay there is Dwyane Wade sitting out with a hamstring injury but Miami has still found a way to win in three of their last four games. Golden State, meanwhile, has won five straight and eight of their last ten.
Though the Heat have won 7 of the last 10 in this series, the teams have alternated wins and losses over the past two seasons with the visiting squad winning in the last four meetings.
Joe Kaiser of ESPN.com looks at the Warriors fantasy stock with Steve Kerr in charge.
The newly signed head coach has placed an emphasis on ball sharing and working deeper into the clock.
"There's more passing, which creates some easier shots," said ESPN's Ethan Sherwood Strauss, who covers the Warriors' home games. "Jackson liked to leverage size advantages into isolation post ups. This strategy created a lot of tough, low efficiency shots for players like Thompson. Under Kerr, Thompson is driving more to the basket and taking better shots in general."
Stephen Curry is one of the hottest players in the league right now. He played like a mere mortal the other night though: 38 minutes, scoring 15 points (5-15 FG, 2-6 3PT, 3-4 FT), with six rebounds and six assists.
ESPN.com noted that “Curry's field goal percentage was bound to come back down to earth, but the fact that he has been able to sustain this type of production says a lot about his value.”

It’s not just the top stars like Curry and Klay Thompson who are making a splash in fantasy formats. Players like Harrison Barnes have also excelled under Kerr’s program. Kaiser writes that Barnes “has thrived as a corner 3-point shooter and a cutter coming off screens”.
"The Warriors as a whole have all benefitted from Kerr's more dynamic offensive schemes, but in my mind two players who are experiencing the biggest boosts are Andrew Bogut and Marreese Speights,” said ESPN Insider Amin Elhassan.
"Bogut has credited Kerr numerous times for reinvigorating him as an offensive threat, by running more of the offense through him out of the high and low posts, taking advantage of Bogut's passing and high basketball IQ. In turn, Bogut is turning these extra touches into more points for himself and his teammates, as opposed to being little more than a screener and rebounder on the offensive end."
Bogut has averaged 2.8 assists per game thus far, which is over a full assist more than last season (1.7 APG).
