Odds to win the 2010 NBA Championship

Odds to win the 2010 NBA Championship have been posted following this weekend's draft and trades.  One might be surprised by the value that can get.  This is Carrie Stroup reporting for Gambling911.com, the gambling news and odds authority.

It might not surprise anyone that the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers were both listed as favorites to win the 2010 NBA Championship at Sportsbook.com.  The Lakers get that nod as the defending NBA Champions while Cleveland's stock just went up a notch with the signing of Shaquille O'Neil.

The Cleveland Cavaliers executed the monster trade with the Phoenix Suns on Thursday to unite Shaq with LeBron James.

ESPN compares the deal to that of other great duos in NBA history: Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bob Cousy and Bill Russell, Shaq himself and Kobe Bryant.

Should either the Lakers or Cavs win the 2010 NBA Championship, early odds would pay out $200 for every $100 bet at Sportsbook.com.

Another big trade involved Vince Carter going to the Orlando Magic from the New Jersey Nets, who get Rafer Alston, Tony Battie and Courtney Lee in return.  The Nets shave off tremendous salary cap and the Magic receive a star player in Carter who some say can only make them better than the club that made it all the way to the Finals this year.

Orlando has value, with a payout potential of $600 for every $100 bet to win the 2010 NBA Championship.

As far as NBA draft picks go, the Los Angeles Clippers picked the consensus number one with Blake Griffin.

Griffin was the consensus college player of the year after leading the nation with 14.4 rebounds per game while averaging 22.7 points last season for Oklahoma. The Clippers said they would take the forward with the top pick just hours after they won the draft lottery last month, and never considered changing their minds.

"The fact is we're getting an incredible player, incredible person, an impeccable work ethic and a guy that we plan on having in L.A. for many years to come," Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. "He's going to be a great, exciting fit for our ballclub."

The LA Clippers odds to win the 2010 NBA Championship:  +10000 for a payout potential of $10,000 on every $100 bet$1000 for every $10 bet.  Hey, why not?

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
