Phoenix Suns vs. New Orleans Hornets odds opened at New Orleans -2 but suddenly this game has become a PICK at SBG Global.  The game tips off Monday, 8:05 pm Eastern - NBA-TV

A key battle in the NBA betting Western Conference takes place on Monday night in New Orleans as the Hornets host the Phoenix Suns.  The Suns are a half game ahead of the Hornets in 7th place in the Conference while Houston, Memphis and Oklahoma City are just a game behind.  The Hornets are coming off a huge win on Saturday, winning 109-102 at Memphis in overtime in a game in which Chris Paul did not play.  Darren Collison scored 17 points and had a career-best 18 assists in place of Paul. "I give credit to (Paul)," Collison said, "I get the chance to watch him every day in the pick-and-roll. I was being a lot more aggressive in the pick-and-roll finding my gaps. I am so small (six-foot, 160 pounds) and quick that I can use it to my advantage."

New Orleans came from 21 points down in the third quarter to defeat the Grizzlies. David West led New Orleans with 22 points, while Peja Stojakovic had 20 points. "It was a great win for us on the heels of (Friday) night's difficult defeat," Hornets coach Jeff Bower said. The Hornets are now 5-4 in games that Paul has missed.  He is questionable for this Monday night game against the Suns.

The Suns played last night in Houston so they could be a little weary tonight.  The Suns have not been a good road team this season so that is another concern.  "It's strange," Steve Nash said. "I've never been on a bad road team. I don't know why. When I take the court, I don't think we're a bad road team because I'm so unfamiliar with that so it doesn't dawn on me why we're a bad team . . . I'm not sure it's even the road. We've just been really inconsistent."

The Suns are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 vs. the Southwest. The Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 NBA betting games playing on no rest. The Suns are 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings in New Orleans.

The Hornets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Hornets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.

The Over is 5-0 in the Suns last 5 vs. the Southwest. The Over is 4-1 in the Suns last 5 road games. The Over is 5-0 in the Hornets last 5 overall. The Over is 4-1 in the Hornets last 5 home games. The Under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in New Orleans between the two teams.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
