UCLA-Florida Line

The UCLA-Florida line was sitting at -5 in favor of Florida coming into Saturday’s Third Round of the 2011 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.  The line on this game is on the money based on Gambling911.com’s own calculations.  90 percent of the spread action was coming in on Florida so we can expect a possible move upwards to -5.5 or even higher prior to game time.

UCLA comes into this game as the number 7 seed while Florida was the number two seed.

UCLA center dominated in the paint against Michigan State and sending that team home early.

"He's a mountain," Florida coach Billy Donovan said. "He's a freight train. I would say every game that Josh Smith goes into, he has a physical advantage. I don't think there's any question about that. ... I don't think that necessarily any of our frontcourt players are just going to line up and move him around."

Unlike most of the First Round games of this NCAA Tournament, UCLA-Florida do have some head-to-head history.  Florida beat UCLA in the Final Four in consecutive years in 2006 and 2007.

"A lot of UCLA fans have texted me saying, 'Hey, get revenge on the Gators for what they did to us," Smith said. "I don't really have an effect on that, though. I was still in high school watching the games. I remember what Horford and Noah were doing to us and they just kind of beasted us.

"We're going to use that as motivation -- the team that knocked us out of the championship game and the Final Four the last two years we were in it."

If it’s any consolation for UCLA, they are 9-2 Against The Spread when playing against a team with a winning record after 15 or more games.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
