Number 7 seed Connecticut beat number 2 seed Villanova to advance to the Sweet 16.

Shabazz Napier scored 21 of his game-high 25 points in the second half Saturday for UConn. Napier made 5-of-7 shots from outside the paint in the second half, including his last four.

Connecticut outscored Villanova 20-4 in points off turnovers Saturday. The Wildcats' four points off turnovers are a season low, having scored at least seven such points in every other game. Villanova scored four second-chance points, tied for its fewest this season. The Wildcats' 14 points in the paint are their third-fewest this season.

Number 3 seed Iowa State managed to hold off number 6 seed North Carolina with a two-point victory on Sunday.  

This one could easily have gone into overtime as the Tar Heels attempted to call timeout in hopes of one last shot, but the game clock didn't start in time and after a lengthy review, the game was called.

Iowa State scored 24 of its 32 points in the paint in the second half. DeAndre Kane was the only Iowa State player to score in the paint in the first half. His teammates were a combined 0-of-9 on such attempts. Kane finished with a game-high 16 points in the paint, including his game-winning jumper with 1 second remaining. 

The Cyclones win stopped a consecutive run of North Carolina teams making it to the Sweet 16.  There has always been a school representing the state in the Sweet 16 since 1979.
