While the best-of-seven championship series in the NHL between Nashville and Pittsburgh is starting to really heat up, this year’s NBA Finals may actually be winding down unless Cleveland can find a way to slow down Golden State. Pittsburgh’s early 2-0 series lead in the NHL’s Stanley Cup Finals has disappeared with back-to-back losses to the Predators at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena in the last two games of this series. The Penguins jumped out to a fast start at home by outscoring Nashville 9-4 in those first two victories, but the Predators also took full advantage of home ice with a 5-1 win in Game 3 followed by a 4-1 victory on Monday night as -138 home favorites. The total has closed at 5.5 in the first four games and it has been evenly spit at 2-2.
In what is now a best-of-three race to the Stanley Cup, Game 5 is set for Thursday night back in Pittsburgh at PPG Paints Arena in a scheduled 8 p.m. start on NBA. The Penguins closed as -160 home favorites in a 5-3 victory in Game 1 and they were listed as -136 favorites at home for Game 2 in that 4-1 win.
