Because so many states have implemented player prop bet bans coming into this week's NCAA Men's College Basketball Tournament, gamblers will only be able to find these player props at offshore sportsbooks, those licensed by international online gambling hubs, including for Wednesday's First Four game between Miami Ohio and SMU. Some of these companies have been around now for over three decades now. BetOnline began taking bets online and via the phone back in 1999.
Regulated Sportsbooks in Ohio Cannot Take Bets on College Player Props
Ohio banned player-specific prop bets on college athletes back in 2024. More recently, the state moved to eliminate player props more broadly, including bets on individual player achievements, in-game and micro props. As a result, you are no longer able to place typical player prop bets at Ohio-licensed sportsbooks (like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM).
Texas Anything Goes
Texas does not currently regulate sports betting. As such, customers can only place bets from the Lone Star State via offshore sportsbooks, local bookies, prediction markets and daily fantasy sports/sweepstakes sites.
