The Cincinnati Bengals odds to win the 2024 Super Bowl were coming in 4th shortest at 10-1.  Those odds remained unchanged Thursday evening after starting quarterback Joe Burrow got carted off the field with an apparent calf injury.

Burrow was rolling to his right during drills when he pulled up short in what appeared to be a noncontact injury.

"It was 10 minutes ago, so we don't have any more information," Taylor said.

According to a source, an early assessment indicates that Burrow is dealing with a calf strain.

"We'll get more information as we go," Taylor added.

While a typical grade I calf strain will heal in about a week, grade II injury could take about four to six weeks.  This is the most common type of calf strain and could see Burrow available by Week 1 of the new season.

A grade III calf strain can take up to three months and would mean that Burrow is sitting out the first few weeks of the season.

Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase appeared optimistic as he told reporters after Thursday's practice he isn't overly concerned about Burrow's status after some unspoken communication with the star QB on the practice field.

This is the third straight training camp that Burrow has dealt with an injury. In 2021, Burrow was recovering from a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee that ended his rookie season in 2020.

When asked about his ability to stay healthy this upcoming season 24 hours prior to getting carted off the field, Burrow said "Knock on wood -- I feel great."

He added: "This time last year I was sitting in a hospital bed. It's good to be out there with the guys. Excited about where we're at."
