Bet on Mage to Win the Triple Crown

This year's Kentucky Derby is in the books and now we are off to the Preakness Stakes where Mage looks to win the Triple Crown.  Odds of a Triple Crown are typically around 8-1 for a payout in the neighborhood of $800 on a $100 bet.

Mage paid 15-1 odds and paid his 300 plus owners a piece of the $1.86 million.  The jockey, Javier Castellano, receives $186,000 of that.

Mage is trained by He is trained by Gustavo Delgado.  He and Castellano are from Venezuela.

Castellano, the Hall of Fame jockey, snapped an 0-for-15 skid in the Derby.

The horse is owned by a fractional share consortium known as Commonwealth, which allows individual investors to buy in on horse ownership.

“He’s (Mage) got a lot of heart," Castellano said moments after crossing the finish line. "He’s a little horse but (has) a big heart.”

“When I come to the United States, my first dream (was) go to the Kentucky Derby!” Delgado said.

Two Phil's was second and 4-1 favorite Angel of Empire finished third.

Forte, the early favorite, was scratched in the morning with a bruised foot.

The 2023 Kentucky Derby was marred by tragedy.

Two more horses died in the hours leading up to post time, making a total of seven dead horses at this year's Kentucky Derby.
