Former US President Donald Trump is up 7 points over current President Joe Biden in a hypothetical matchup in the latest ABC poll.  These results come just days after Biden officially announced his reelection campaign.  We would note that this is the first time the ABC poll shows Trump in the lead.

US President Joe Biden officially announced his candidacy for re-election in 2024 two weeks ago and his odds received a slight boost at the time.

Biden remained a full point and a quarter ahead of Trump in the odds (+125 to +250 for Trump).

Biden's approval rating sunk to an all time low of 36 percent coming into May 8.

Trump, meanwhile, is slated to take part in a town hall this Thursday on CNN.

Better-than-expected midterm performances by the Democrats dampened talk of a primary challenge.  Biden was widely expected to announce his intention to run, however, the Tuesday date comes earlier than anticipated.

Robert Kennedy Jr. formally announced his long-shot bid for the Democratic nomination for president in late April.  He is the nephew of the late president John F. Kennedy and son of former U.S. attorney general and slain 1968 presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy.

Kennedy Jr. is also an anti-vaccine activist and blamed Trump for caving into bureaucracy during the Covid-19 pandemic.

It's interesting to note that there is some decent search traffic coming in for Kennedy, Jr's odds here at Gambling911.com.

"A lot of people say President Trump gets blamed for a lot of things that he didn't do. And he gets blamed for some things that he did do. But the worst thing that he did to this country, to our civil rights, to our economy, to the middle class in this country is lockdowns," Kennedy said.

A recent USA Today/Suffolk University poll showed that 14 percent of surveyed voters who backed President Biden in 2020 said they would support Kennedy in 2024.

Dave Mason of BetOnline released odds for Kennedy, Jr. at 25-1.
