Red Sox Are 8-1 Against Mariners in Last Nine Played at Boston

(May 15, 2023) - Seattle is probably the better of the two consensus plays on Monday May 15, the other being the LA Angels, at least on paper.

But think twice before you pull the trigger here.  In fact, Boston is looking mighty mouth watering to us.

Here we have two teams right around the .500 mark. Seattle has won six of their last ten games while St. Louis just swept the Red Sox.

The Mariners are 1-8 in the last 9 meetings versus Boston.  They are 19-46 in the last 65 meetings in Boston.  The Over is 20-8-1 in the last 29 meetings in Boston and 21-6 in the last 27 meetings.

George Kirby starts for Seattle and is 4-2 with a 2.62 ERA.

Kirby matched a career-high with nine strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Rangers.  Prior to that he yielded three runs over seven innings on Thursday in a win over the Athletics.  And before that, he recorded his first career complete game by throwing eight innings in a 1-0 loss to the Phillies.

Kirby is likely due for a poor outing here against a Boston team that seems to have the Mariners number of late.

Tanner Houck yielded three runs in 5 2/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Phillies and will be hungry for the win as he is without one over his last three starts.  He is 3-2 with a 5.26 ERA so far this season.

Though a small sampling, Seattle Mariners career statistics vs. Tanner Houck are just 4 for 22 (.182).

Red Sox -105 is our play, going against the consensus.
