Odds on Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua: Experts Believe Fight Will Happen
Jake Paul beat Julio Chavez Jr. by unanimous decision Saturday night, dominating the early rounds before weathering Chavez's late rally for his sixth consecutive win.
Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) had little trouble from the 39-year-old Chavez (54-7-2), controlling the majority of the bout in front of an ardently pro-Chávez crowd in Southern California.
“I love that he brought a good fight at the end, and I think the fans got a good fight to see him come out, put some punches on me,” Paul said. “It makes me better. I had to elevate tonight and rise to a different level. I’m glad the fans got to see me get punched in the face a little bit.”
Paul has successfully leveraged his Internet ubiquity and his own hard work to become a force in the business of boxing, if not in traditionally important bouts.
But if Paul takes on either Anthony Joshua or Gilberto Ramirez in his next fight, he'll find himself in unfamiliar territory...a huge underdog.
Paul has mostly beaten up on guys he's supposed to beat in his boxing career thus far, but the two opponents he's eyeing next are formidable foes, with a former world heavyweight champion and a current cruiserweight champ.
BetOnline.ag set odds for both fights, and Paul is an enormous dog in each.
The only time Jake Paul was listed as an underdog (besides the exhibition fight against Floyd Mayweather) was in January 2020 where he was an even-money dog against Ali Loui Al-Fakhri (aka Anesongib).

Experts began weighing in on the potential of a Paul-Joshua bout.
Josha, a British boxer, held the unified[a] world heavyweight championship twice between 2016 and 2021.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s longtime promoter, says he would support the idea if Joshua wants to take the fight, saying he wouldn’t stand in the way if his fighter is genuinely interested.
“Will AJ (fight Paul)? He’s his own man, but I will be saying, ‘Yeah, go on mate. Go and deal with this guy. Get him out of the game,’” Hearn saidduring an interview with Sky Sports.
“He’s calling out Anthony Joshua, who is a heavyweight monster,” the promoter said, per talkSPORT. “I think Jake Paul is crazy enough to fight Anthony Joshua because the money would be absolutely obscene.”
One of the biggest names in boxing today - and arguably someone many fans would rather see take on Paul - Tyson Fury, offered his opinion.
“I think it’s a good fight. I think it’s a real, 50/50 fight.”
