BroCon Conference

BroCon is a conference for the billion dollar “guy” market.  Represented at this past Saturday’s conference at the exclusive New York Athletic Club (founded in 1886) were speakers from Maxim Magazine, AskMen.com, men’s apparel companies, Lacrosse industry professionals and players, entertainment attorneys and more.  Gambling911.com was the only company representing the billion dollar online gambling industry, though it had company in the publishing media market.

Both Senior International Correspondent, Jenny Woo (one of only five women in attendance) and Publisher Christopher Costigan, spoke at the conference.   Costigan and Woo discussed the hurdles confronted with running a media site as part of the online gambling industry, the amazing top rankings the site receives in Google News and Google Search as well as highlighting some of Ms. Woo’s more famous interviews with the likes of Barney Frank and Dick Armey.

BroCon is all about networking among an exclusive group of cross-industry entrepreneurs.

“I met some great people here and it was certainly a worthwhile event,” said Woo, who 6 months ago relocated back to her home town of Pensacola, Florida.  Her next stop is the Punta Cana Championship Poker Tournament being held in the Dominican Republic.

BroCon CEO is Brian Bauer.  With extensive background in the media and entertainment sector, Brian has served as a consultant for Universal Music Group, MTV Networks, Wind-up Records, and RCA Music Group.

Doug Schulkin founded BroCon.  He is head of Status Flow, a lacrosse-lifestyle clothing company based in Baltimore, MD. Via Status Flow, Doug works directly with a bevy of lacrosse teams and programs throughout the country, including the national governing body of the sport, U.S. Lacrosse. Status Flow has been featured by nationally recognized publications such as Thrillist, Balitmore Magazine, and Harvard Crimson.
