Following a scandal that has rocked the London tabloid world and resulted in the famed News of the World shutdown, one British bookmaker this week offered odds on whether Rupert Murdoch would launch a replacement for NOTW, perhaps “The Sun on Sunday”.

Victor Chandler issued this statement:

Another interesting twist is when News International will launch a version of the "Sun on Sunday" and VC feel it won't be that long. "The timing will be important. Murdoch knows that he can't leave it too late before he launches because he could end up losing many of his readers to his rivals. He also knows that if he launches too soon the closure of the News Of The World could be seen as a cynical ploy. It's a very delicate issue."

Murdoch’s News of the World reporters were found to be hacking into phones of politicians and even a murder victim over a period of time this past decade.

The Sun on Sunday website domain has suddenly come under the control of Murdoch’s New International, though a launch right now is probably not entirely wise.
