California Ranks No. 1 in Terms of Gambling-Related Arrests Per Capita

(April 29, 2023) - A WalletHub survey this week found that, while California ranked No. 12 in the nation in terms of overall gambling addictions, the state fared poorly when it comes to gambling-related crime per capita.

Common crimes related to compulsive gambling include fraud, forgery, embezzlement, larceny, shoplifting, burglary and petty theft.

WalletHub compared the 50 states across 20 key metrics.

California fared especially well in one key metric, % of Adults with Gambling Disorders:  Here the most populous state ranked No. 32 out of 50.

It should probably come as little surprise that Nevada would rank No. 1 in terms of overall gambling addiction per capita with Montana, Texas and Mississippi taking up the rest of the four spots.

Gambling friendliness metrics brings South Dakota rather high into the mix along with West Virginia, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.

Hawaii and Utah, with virtually zero gambling, not even a lottery. held onto the two bottom spots.

California Sports Betting Ballot Questions Heading for Defeat?

(September 4, 2022) - Analysts at Southern California-based Eilers & Krejcik Gaming believe that two sports betting questions appearing on the ballot in the California November election will fail to get the required 50 percent voter approval.

Both sides are spending millions (over $360 million thus far) in campaign dollars advertising across the state. Eilers & Krejcik Gaming claim the competiting messages are only serving to confuse voters. Read More Here
