Many Question if the Jake Paul Sports Betting App Can Be Successful

YouTube sensation Jake Paul on Monday announced his new micro-betting sportsbook app, BetR, but not everyone on Twitter is convinced it can work.

Joe Brennan, a long time sports betting industry analyst, tweeted out:

"Like Barstool. Only smaller, less capitalized and with none of the market access."

Miriam Barbara writes:

"Yeah instead he’s promoting live in-play micro betting which is one of the most damaging forms of betting when it comes to addiction. Oh but “gotta respect him”

JusticeBet points out some of the legal obstacles that could be involved:

"Need lawmaker support and lobbying though. In NC, the bill included crypto but not enough IMO for microbetting. Had our bill passed that'd be the discretion of the Lottery Commission. Each state's path to legalize is different Just my .02. Best wishes."

And this type of betting is already an issue in other jurisdictions, according to John Paragioudakis:

"This is why regular sportsbooks shut off selections when a pitch is thrown. Same reason why people in Europe were banned from bringing laptops to tennis matches because they had a 1-2 second advantage on point by point betting. Great concept in theory."
