The CEO of BETR, Adriaan Brink, passed away peacefully Thursday.  Details of his death were not immediately known.

Brink was a long established figure in the gambling and cryptocurrency sector.  Many of his colleagues in the industry offered their sympathies via social media platforms Thursday.

Rebecca Liggero Fontana of CoinGeek spoke glowingly of Adriaan.

"Adriaan Brink, we will never forget you, I’m so heartbroken An amazing human being who made me smile every time I spent time with him over the past 18 years, always living life to the fullest."

BETR is not to be confused with the Jake Paul-fronted sports betting company, BetR.  BETR was a token claiming to be specific to a betting cryptocurrency that was to establish truly decentralised sports.  The blockchain-based gaming token would later be rebranded as FUNToken.

Brink more recently was CEO of Checkincognito, a consumer-centric contact tracing solution based on voluntary and mandatory check-in with consumer.

Born in South Africa, Brink had spent his later years in London.

Brink's family released a statement Thursday confirming his death.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Adriaan Brink in the early hours of the 20th of April.

He is survived by his 4 children, and passed on peacefully knowing just how much love all his family and friends share for him.

As those of you who know him well will agree, he lived his life to the fullest until the very end. The memories of his vivacious spirit, endless generosity and unbreakable courage will live on in all of us forever.
